The Get Digital Programme
East Sussex County Council’s Get Digital programme was developed in response to the fact that the skills and confidence of practitioners and carers in supporting young people to be safer online varied meaning two things:
- Children and young people were not getting a consistent message or consistent support
- Carers and practitioners were avoiding engaging with young people about their online world so they were having to cope alone leading to safeguarding issues.
The Get Digital programme offers comprehensive and practical training and resources to develop the skills and confidence of your practitioners and carers. This enables them to provide support and guidance to young people in building digital resilience skills so that they can take advantage of all the benefits of the online world whilst keeping themselves safe.
Our training programme and Digital Hive website has been developed by digital and online safety specialists alongside a Digital Ambassador network including children in East Sussex. Their role is crucial in keeping us current and ensuring our content reflects the needs of children and families.
The Get Digital programme is also available to schools in East Sussex and other local authorities. For more information please email getdigital@eastsussex.gov.uk. See our short films for more information:
